Bonnie Tan was mostly tight-lipped regarding NorthPort’s plans, not just in the upcoming PBA Rookie Draft but also the pending sale of its franchise to Pureblends Corporation.

Tan only expressed his elation over adding his former Letran player Jeo Ambohot to the roster when reporters caught up with the Batang Pier coach during the Draft Combine at Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.

He begged to comment on the presence of ex-Terrafirma mentor Johnedel Cardel, who was with the coaching staff throughout the final day of the pre-Draft event.

Cardel could only point at Tan when asked if he had joined NorthPort, or Pureblends if the league approves the transaction.

Cardel was Terrafirma’s coach from 2018 until the end of last season’s PBA Governors’ Cup.

A review committee is currently overseeing documents of the deal that will see Pureblends acquire NorthPort’s lock, stock and barrel for a reported sum of P90 million.

Pureblends is a company that specializes in food manufacturing, particularly for baking needs.

NorthPort will still go through the Draft process on Sunday while the sale is still awaiting the nod. The Batang Pier have the fourth pick in the Draft set at SM Mall of Asia Music Hall.

That didn’t prevent NorthPort from making a move by sending Evan Nelle to Phoenix as part of a three-team deal with Converge and receiving Ambohot from the FiberXers in the process.
