Milestones are some of the most interesting aspects of baseball.
It’s always fun for fans to watch players chase certain records or marks.
Last year was a perfect example of that, as Aaron Judge attempted to break the single-season American League home run record while Albert Pujols chased down 700 home runs for his career.
Both milestones were ultimately achieved.
But it’s not often that certain milestones are achieved on the same day from coast to coast.
However, on this date back in 1985, that took place.
Then-Chicago White Sox starter and Hall-of-Famer Tom Seaver won his 300th career game pitching in New York while Rod Carew of the California Angels picked up his 3,000th career hit in Anaheim.
On Twitter, MLB recalled this special day.
OTD in 1985, it was a day for legends and milestones coast-to-coast.

This was certainly a special day in the history of Major League Baseball.
It’s rare to see players reach such important milestones because of how long it takes to do just that.
But it happened on this date 38 years ago.
The fact that both happened on both coasts in the same day is also quite important to note.
Both Seaver and Carew had legendary careers.
Both superstars were also near the end of their historic careers.
Carew retired following the conclusion of the 1985 season.
Seaver pitched one more season and retired after finishing out the 1986 season with the Boston Red Sox.
But on this day, both stars stole the show and ultimately accomplished historic feats in the process.
Seaver and Carew both ended up in the Hall of Fame after their careers ended.
