The Los Angeles Lakers were just part of the biggest NBA trade in decades, but they are not done making moves.
As Thursday’s trade deadline gets closer, Rob Pelinka and his staff are working hard behind the scenes to secure more talent.
According to Sam Amick, the Lakers are now targeting big man Steven Adams, currently of the Houston Rockets.
“League sources say the Lakers have had talks with Houston about 31-year-old big man Steven Adams (who is on an expiring deal worth $12.6 million). And while the two sides have been significantly apart, with no signs that a deal will actually get done, those talks offers some clarity as to what Pelinka has been thinking here,” Amick reported, per NBACentral.

Adams has averaged 3.8 points and 5.3 rebounds during his 34 games this season, shooting 58.1 percent from the field.
This is his first healthy season with the Rockets and it may be his last because he is the sort of reliable center who can help a lot off the bench.
Amick made it clear that the Lakers may not get Adams because they are apparently “significantly apart” in negotiations.
But this shows what the Lakers are trying to do and how dedicated they are to acquiring some big-man talent.
Fans were already pleading for the front office to make an addition like this all season, but the loss of Anthony Davis makes it even more important.
They now have Luka Doncic, LeBron James, and several other great players, but the Lakers have to fill out their frontcourt, or else their chances of postseason success dwindle.
They may not end up with Adams, but the Lakers are obviously working hard to find a center they can rely on.
They want someone who is experienced, inexpensive, and healthy.
What decision will they make before Thursday?
