Liverpool are splashing the cash as the Premier League champions further bolster their squad, with Hugo Ekitike and Florian Wirtz part of a recruitment drive that has cost almost £300m

Liverpool have added seven new arrivals this summer, the most recent being Hugo Ektike for £79million, as they continue to eye a move for Alexander Isak.

Ekitike has already enjoyed a positive start to life at the Reds, scoring in the Community Shield and then against in their Premier League win over Bournemouth last Friday. It’s been a busy summer for Liverpool, who’ve spent nearly £300m on signings. The Reds quickly snapped Jeremie Frimpong to replace Trent Alexander-Arnold before the window was even officially open.

And he was joined last week by his former Leverkusen team-mate Florian Wirtz. The Reds will spend a total of £116million on Wirtz if the 22-year-old hits both individual and team targets – which would make it a British record, eclipsing Moises Caicedo’s £115m move from Brighton to Chelsea.

The club have also added Armin Pecsi from Puskas Akademia. The 20-year-old goalkeeper put pen to paper after being among the nominees for the 2025 Golden Boy award.

Giorgi Mamardashvil has also arrived, with Liverpool having agreed a transfer with Valencia almost 12 months ago. The Georgian’s pending arrival gave the club confidence to finally part ways with Caoimhin Kelleher, who joined Brentford in an £18m deal. Midfielder Lewis Koumas has left the club on loan, joining high-flying Birmingham in the Championship.

The Irishman is one of a number of major players to leave Anfield, which has helped to offset the club’s spending. Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez both left, joining Bayern Munich and Al-Hilal respectively, which has banked Liverpool more than £100m.

Dealings with Leverkusen have continued, leading to Jarell Quansah’s exit as he pursued more playing time. Tyler Morton has also moved abroad, joining Lyon. Ben Doak has left for Bournemouth, joining the Cherries for £20m having cost Liverpool just £200k.
