Evangelos Marinakis has said «everything is solid» with Nuno Espirito Santo as Nottingham Forest’s key figures plan talks next week over the club’s direction
Nuno Espirito Santo will sit down with Evangelos Marinakis for crunch talks over his Nottingham Forest future next week. But Forest owner Marinakis has insisted their relationship is “solid” – a week after the head coach questioned his future by saying “where there’s smoke, there’s fire” amid speculation he was about to be sacked.
Nuno, who insists his team have not been impacted by the “noise” around off-field tensions that also involve transfer chief Edu, says that he is “relaxed” about his situation at the City Ground.
And Marinakis, speaking after Forest were handed a kind Europa League draw that includes a re-run of the 1979 European Cup final against Malmo, has attempted to play down any talk of a rift.

«Everything is solid. We all want Nottingham to succeed. We are here in the good days but we are even closer in the difficult days, so personally I don’t see a problem,” Marinakis said. «We are all together, united, and we’ll make some corrective actions and everything will be smooth and ready to go.”
Shortly after that interview was given, Nuno stopped just short of guaranteeing he will remain in position beyond the international break. “I think so,” he said. “I don’t know how to answer that but I think so.”
The pair spoke briefly on the phone last week and agreed to discuss the club’s direction and vision once tomorrow’s fixture against West Ham is out of the way.
“The president is a busy man,” Nuno added. “We need to have a talk about the future of the club, how we should address (the future) after the transfer market. We want the same thing, what’s best for Forest.”
However Nuno indicated that there is no sign of relations with Edu improving as he simply responded “no” when asked if he had spoken with the former Arsenal sporting director.
Nuno also believes none of the recent arrivals, including Douglas Luiz and Omari Hutchinson, are capable of starting against West Ham.
