MLB free agency is unlike any other in the world of professional sports.

We have some top free agents and former Cy Young award winners still available with the regular season less than one month away.

In most sports, teams want their rosters to be set as quickly as possible.

But, many MLB free agents decide to take the slow path and wait for the best deal.

That has been the case with starting pitchers Jordan Montgomery and Blake Snell.

Both pitchers are still free agents, and there has not been much talk surrounding them.

Yet, their markets should be heating up shortly with the season starting in a few weeks.

According to Bob Nightengale, agent Scott Boras says four new teams have reached out to him about Snell and Montgomery since the start of spring training.

Snell is the reigning NL Cy Young winner, and he is in line for a massive payday.

But, as we get closer to the season, it seems likely he will sign a smaller deal.

We have seen free agents do it in the past and then be in line for a major payday soon.

Snell does not come without his share of uncertainty.

He has never thrown over 180.2 innings in his career.

Also, he is known for walking a lot of batters.

Last season, he led baseball in walks with 99.

But, everything else he brings to the table (strikeouts, low ERA) make up for the walks.

Snell and Montgomery are the two best free-agent pitchers available.

Snell has the higher upside and more career accolades, but Montgomery will be a solid middle-of-the-rotation starter for anyone interested.
