Shai Gilgeous-Alexander of the Oklahoma City Thunder just had a downright historic season, one that will be talked about for decades to come.
But when looking at all the highlights of the year, Gilgeous-Alexander told Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show that he honestly didn’t foresee it happening.
Fallon asked Gilgeous-Alexander if he thought all of this was possible when he was a young man.
“Not at all,” Gilgeous-Alexander humbly said.

Gilgeous-Alexander did just about everything in 2024-25.
He was an All-Star, MVP, Western Conference MVP, Finals MVP, and a champion.
On top of that, he also led the league in scoring.
Gilgeous-Alexander was the biggest name in the league last year, and he will enter 2025-26 as the odds-on favorite to return to the Finals.
The expectations were high last season, but they’ll be even higher for Gilgeous-Alexander next year.
Gilgeous-Alexander came into the league in 2018-19, a young rookie looking to prove himself to the rest of the NBA.
He averaged 10.8 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 3.3 assists in that opening campaign and was sixth place for Rookie of the Year.
He progressively got better year after year and became the Thunder’s most important star.
Because of dedication and years of hard work, Gilgeous-Alexander has become a champion in a league of his own.
Very few people have done what he just did, and he has earned every accolade.
When he was a young boy, Gilgeous-Alexander wanted to play basketball, but he didn’t think all of these massive accomplishments could happen.
They have, and now everyone is excited to see what’s next.
