It has been a painful couple of months for the Dallas Cowboys and their fans.
The team went 7-10 and missed the playoffs for the first time in four seasons.
Then, Dallas parted ways with head coach Mike McCarthy and made an uninspiring hire by replacing him with Brian Schottenheimer, who was their offensive coordinator.
The Cowboys then hired Klayton Adams, the Arizona Cardinals offensive line coach, to be their new offensive coordinator.
This could be seen as a signal the Dallas will recommit to the running game on offense, but media figure Skip Bayless, a well-known Cowboys fan, doesn’t believe it and openly questioned the hire of Adams.
“Exactly who is Klayton — with a K — Adams, and what is he doing as my new ofensive coordinator?” Bayless said on X. “… It has come to this for my Dallas Cowboys.”

Bayless pointed out that in two years as the Cardinals’ offensive line coach, Arizona did not win many games.
The Cowboys have plenty of weaknesses, but perhaps their biggest is their rushing offense, which ranked 27th in yards, tied for 27th in yards per attempt and 32nd in touchdowns this season.
Even if they had chosen to hire a more high-profile offensive coordinator, those woes will not be fixed unless they improve their personnel in the backfield.
Their primary running back is Rico Dowdle, who posted 1,079 rushing yards on 4.6 yards per attempt but scored just two rushing touchdowns (he did have three receiving touchdowns).
Bayless suggested the Cowboys select Ashton Jeanty in the 2025 NFL Draft after the Boise State running back had 2,601 rushing yards and 29 rushing touchdowns this season.
