The recent game between the Los Angeles Chargers and Las Vegas Raiders got the attention of fans across the league.

In this game, former Charger Jerry Tillery took a shot at Herbert when he was out of bounds.

This caused Tillery to get thrown out of the game, and the hit spurred a minor brawl between the two teams.

The NFL has taken strides to help protect the league’s biggest stars, and they have a zero-tolerance policy for actions like this.

After this incident occurred, Von Miller discussed a personal anecdote on his podcast, shared via Bleacher Report.

“If somebody hit Josh Allen like that, I’m getting thrown out of the game,” Miller said.

Miller believes he must protect his quarterback, especially in situations like this.

While many expected Tillery to be suspended for more than one game, it doesn’t appear that he will miss any additional games.

He is expected to be fined for this hit, information that isn’t available at the time of publication.

Regardless of Tillery’s punishment, Miller believes there is no place for late hits in the game of football, especially on quarterbacks.

Herbert was recently signed to a massive contract extension.

If this hit rendered him unable to play in the ensuing games, this could have been a much larger issue.

Teams want to protect their greatest investments, which, again, is why Miller spoke so boldly about Allen.

Quarterbacks are the lifeblood of organizations, and being without your starter can be the difference between a playoff team and a Super Bowl champion.
